I work primarily in oils with palette knife which lends itself nicely to the subtle textures found in landscapes. I find using a limited palette to create harmony within my composition works well for me. I place great value on graphic skills and typically permit the drawn line to visually integrate with the implied and concrete shapes throughout my work. I am drawn to certain masters and contemporary artists for their expertise in capturing light and texture, the most prominent among them being: Paul Cezanne, John Singer-Sargent, J.M.W.Turner, Jean Jansem, T. Allen Lawson, and Pamela Sytyzbel.
Although my favored genre has been the landscape, with some incorporation of the figure, I have a great appreciation for the still life. Moving to broaden my thematic base is an ongoing goal of mine.
